VI. Illegal Termination Of Service By Your Landlord
Intentional termination of your utility service by your landlord is a crime (a class A misdemeanor).
If your landlord disconnects wires or pipes, or dismantles other equipment that provide heat or other
utility service to your apartment or the building, you should call the police (911) immediately.
The police may be able to force the landlord to restore the service. The landlord --or an agent
of the landlord-- must be present at the building when the police arrive. If the landlord refuses
to restore the service the police can arrest and take him or her to the police station.
