NYS Real Property Law (RPL)

AN ACT relating to real property, constituting chapter fifty of
the consolidated laws. Became a law February 17, 1909, with the
approval of the Governor. Passed, three-fifths being present.
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and
Assembly, do enact as follows:
CHAPTER 50 OF THE CONSOLIDATED LAWS
REAL PROPERTY LAW
The New York State Real Property Law (RPL) covers the spectrum of
Real Property issues, including the relationship between Landlord
and Tenant. However, it should not be confused with the
Real Property Actions and Proceedings
Law (RPAPL) which details the nature of court proceedings
that invariably arise from contested real estate issues.
Of prime concern to tenants is Article 7 which
covers the Landlord-Tenant relationshhip. Also of concern are Articles 12-A and 12-C
which cover Real Estate Brokers and Apartment Information Vendors.
