NYCHA's
corruption marches on,
while NYCHA, the NY Post
and Mayor Bloomberg
play Hall Monitor!
You're about to discover that Bob Swinton taking a legitimate break is NOT the worse thing happening at NYCHA. Hell, it's not even the Facility Planning and Administration's worse problem.
But the NY Post, with its intrepid investigative smoking brigade, allows true NYCHA problems to remain hidden behind a cloud of smoke.
However, Spotty has a small group of investigative reporters that will put their work up against the NY Post's inept crew anytime.
Our investigators are NYCHA EMPLOYEES!
The Spotlight mailing list was asked if they knew of other problems that might demand nearly as much attention as the railroading of Bob Swinton.
And, one of Bob Swinton's co-workers sent in some interesting news. It concerns an apparent double standard at NYCHA, and it is an eye-opener into more of the corruption that the NY Post should be aiming its resources toward.
First, please humor me through a few rhetorical, or what certainly SHOULD be rhetorical, questions.
If you are responsible for arranging contracts for appraisals for NYCHA, do you have a duty to insure that you remain objective in the awards?
Should any reasonable person have been aware of obvious conflicts-of-interest?
While that query remains in your thoughts, please read A and B (below) and compare your answers to the actions taken by NYCHA:
- A) What action should be taken against an employee who is caught on camera during legitimate breaks?
- B) What action should be taken against an employee who works for NYCHA in awarding appraisal contracts at the same time he/she works directly for one of those appraisers who is trying to get those contracts?
NYCHA's answers:
- A): Employee should be fired, his family torn, his children's schoolwork should be made to suffer and City Hall should ignore the injustice it has now sullied itself with.
No investigation, AT ALL!!!
- B): Employee should claim she was unaware that getting a paycheck from the outside company might influence her decisions, her boss should quietly advise her to distance herself with the conflict, and she should remain at her same job.
No investigation, AT ALL!!!
Now, we all know that life has different paths for each of us, and what might get one set of bosses angry might not bother another set of bosses.
But in this case, the bosses are the same.
The woman in question,
Ms. Patricia Campbell, works in
Facility Planning and Administration,
just like Swinton!
